Vineyards

This Douro wine is produced with grapes that comes from a single vineyard of Quinta do Roncão near the Douro River. This vineyard faces east, which makes it perfect for an early harvest dedicated to this variety.

Tinta Francisca

Tinta Francisca is a variety that is very present in the old vineyards of the Douro which fell into “oblivion” with the new plantations. The choice to plant this variety in the Roncão vineyards derived from the desire to try new wines with old Douro varieties again. It has been a fascinating experience to discover the potential of this variety, to create a wine with a different style than usual, aromatically very attractive, with a medium structure, an elegant profile, but with great intensity.

Vinification

The year of 2020 was amazing for this Douro wine. This was the first year that we bottled this variety. With the aim of making a different wine, with a traditional Douro grape variety, we chose to carry out a separate fermentation with little intervention. In turn, it was stored in stainless steel vats and bottled in 2021.
